    drifts over time, updated guidance, and honest reflection questions.

Why Wound Care Matters

Wounds are one of the most common conditions you will encounter in healthcare, across every setting from acute hospitals to community nursing, care homes, and GP practices. Managed well, most wounds heal. Managed poorly, they become infected, break down, cause severe pain, and can ultimately be life-threatening.

For first-timers: Do not be intimidated. Good wound care is built on a small number of clear principles that you can learn and apply consistently. This course gives you those foundations.

For refreshers: Evidence-based wound care has evolved. The IDDSI framework for dysphagia changed alongside wound care guidance. The TIME framework has been refined. Dressing technologies have advanced. This refresher will sharpen your practice and challenge any habits that may have drifted from best evidence.

Objectives

By the end of this course you will: understand skin structure and wound classification; describe the four phases of healing; assess a wound using a structured approach; apply the TIME framework; recognise and manage infection; select appropriate dressings; and document wound assessments accurately.
