What Is This Course About?
If you are new to working in healthcare, one of the first things you will need to learn is how to move and handle people safely. This might sound straightforward, but moving and handling is one of the most common causes of injury for healthcare workers in the UK. It is also a significant cause of discomfort, distress, and – when done badly – injury for the people receiving care.
The good news is that with the right knowledge, the right equipment, and a little practice, moving and handling can be done safely and comfortably for everyone involved. This course will teach you everything you need to know to get started.
IMPORTANT – Please Read Before You Start
This course gives you the knowledge foundation you need. But reading about moving and
handling is not the same as doing it. Before you carry out any moving and handling tasks
with real patients, you MUST complete supervised hands-on practical training.
If you are ever unsure about a move, STOP and ask a more experienced colleague.
What You Will Learn
