Introduction

Aims

This training is aimed at Care Assistants who are working in a variety of settings including domiciliary care, residential/nursing homes, mental health, supported living, and learning disabilities.

Please take your time to complete this course. We anticipate this module will take you approximately 1.5 - 2.5 hours to complete. There will be a final assessment of 15 questions at the end of the module in which you will need to achieve a pass mark of 70%.


Objectives

By the end of the session you will:

  • Recognise the Legislation relating to general health and safety in adult care settings.
  • Recognise general health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Determine who is responsible for health and safety in the workplace.
  • Classify which tasks require special training.
  • Understand your responsibilities for reporting and responding to accidents and sudden illnesses.
  • Understand what a Risk Assessment is.
  • Understand how to report health and safety risks.
  • Learn about COSHH.
  • Become familiar with general fire safety policies and procedures.
  • Learn what is meant by working ‘safely and securely.
