The Most Human Part of Care
Dignity is not something you can tick off a form. It is not a policy. It is the fundamental recognition that every person you care for is a human being of worth – with their own history, identity, fears, preferences, and rights – and that your care must reflect that recognition in every interaction, every word, and every action.
For first-timers: dignity failures are not always dramatic. They happen in small moments – the rushed bed bath, the thoughtless comment, the conversation held at a bedside in earshot of other patients. This course will help you notice and prevent them.
For refreshers: dignity in care is one of the areas most vulnerable to institutional drift. Good practitioners who are overworked, understaffed, or institutionalised can gradually stop seeing what is in front of them. This refresher is your invitation to look again with honest eyes.
