Introduction

This training is not intended to replace the Emergency First Aid at Work training which will give you the knowledge and skills to carry out First Aid and Emergency Life Saving Skills. 

This training is meant as an introduction to the concepts of Basic Life Support but completion of this training DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE AUTHORITY TO CARRY OUT ANY TECHNIQUES. You must be assessed by a qualified trainer or Registered Nurse before you can perform any of the tasks mentioned in this training course. 

The aim of this training is to inform staff working in Health and Social care about Basic Life Support and how to academically support an individual who is suffering from an emergency situation.

The objectives of this training will be to cover the legislation surrounding Basic Life Support, the Acronym DRABCD, CPR, how to clear an obstructed airway in an adult, confidentiality, record keeping and further training.

There will be an assessment at the end of this training of 5 questions; you must achieve a 70% pass rate.
